In the paper Early and highly suppressive ART are main factors associated with low viral reservoir in European perinatally HIV infected children, just accepted for publication in JAIDS, we demonstrate that HIV infected children who start ART earlier in life and remain suppressed without blips or treatment failure have the lowest viral reservoir as they mature through childhood.
Importantly, this study provides further evidence to support current guidelines that recommend treatment with ART as soon as possible in perinatally HIV infected children.
